We Are All Stardust - The Illustrated Truth

William Thomas
ArtÓ X William Thomas - The Illustrated Truth is a conceptual art series that explores the fragile intersection between fame, identity, and mortality in the modern age. Each piece re-imagines an iconic cultural figure through the visual language of media, memory, and myth, layering portraiture with distressed textures, graffiti interventions, and re-contextualised headlines. The result is a collision between how these figures were seen, how they were sold, and how they are ultimately remembered. 'We Are All Stardust' is a tribute to David Bowie, and the alter ego that redefined identity in popular culture, Ziggy Stardust. Set against a backdrop of distressed print and fragmented headlines, the piece captures Bowie at his most transformative, otherworldly, theatrical, and impossible to confine. The visual language reflects constant reinvention, where image, sound, and self dissolve into something fluid. The bold, defacing statement cuts through the composition, shifting the narrative from performance to something more universal.

When you buy something from an artist you’re buying more than an object. You’re buying hundreds of hours of errors and experimentation. You’re buying years of frustration and moments of pure joy.
You’re not buying just one thing, you are buying a piece of heart, a piece of soul… a small piece of someone else’s life.
