Earth

Emily Elton
'Earth' is part of the Four Elements of Alchemy series, four distinct pieces bound in style yet unique in their depiction of the elements. Emily Elton has used air, fire, earth and water as her inspiration to explore the energy of nature through the fluidity of paint. Elton mixes oil into acrylic to thin paints to different consistencies so that they interact as layers on the canvas and they are poured in different orders depending on the desired outcome. Air is used to move the paint and then a heat gun used to expose the 'cells'.

When you buy something from an artist you’re buying more than an object. You’re buying hundreds of hours of errors and experimentation. You’re buying years of frustration and moments of pure joy.
You’re not buying just one thing, you are buying a piece of heart, a piece of soul… a small piece of someone else’s life.
